Dr Fabien Monteil is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. His research focuses on the physical modelling of the coupled ocean waves/sea ice system in the Arctic and Southern Oceans. His interests encompass the description of metre scale processes, e.g. the wave-induced bending and breakup of sea ice floes, and the propagation of ocean waves in the marginal ice zone.
In the Antarctic Science Platform, Fabien will develop and use large scale modelling tools of the climate system to understand the impact of Southern Ocean waves on sea ice extent. Fabien is working with the National Modelling Hub.
