Esme is the Senior Science Programme Advisor at Antarctica New Zealand, where she enjoys working with researchers to support delivery of New Zealand’s world-class Antarctic science programme. Esme’s association with Antarctic research began 20 years ago as a PhD student investigating the physiology of Antarctic fish, and her interest in Antarctica’s marine environment has continued to flourish. Prior to her role at Antarctica New Zealand, Esme worked for 10 years at Plant & Food Research, studying the behaviour and physiology of New Zealand fish. Esme has a fixed term appointment to the Platform Leadership Team, while Chief Scientific Advisor Jordy Hendrikx is contracted to the role of Chief Executive Officer.
